Caribbean Free Trade Association; CARIFTA
A regional economic integration organization established on May 1, 1968 by Antigua, Barbados, Guyana, and Trinidad and Tobago. Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, and others later joined, aiming to develop the region's economies, but it was dissolved in 1973 when the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) was established in order to further strengthen the unity of the member countries.
