In 1935, the leaders of Britain, France, and Italy met in Stresa, northern Italy, to discuss the German threat and European international relations. They also discussed plans for a tripartite alliance. However, in October of that year, Italy began the Ethiopian War (Italian-Ethiopian War), which led to a collapse of the plan and a rapprochement between Germany and Italy.
