A town in Nakagawa District, eastern Hokkaido. Occupying the midstream area of the Tokachibetsu River, it produces beans, wheat, sugar beets, potatoes, and also engages in dairy farming. There are many factories that produce sugar, dairy products, and sweetened azuki beans. The city center is at the confluence of the Tobetsu River and its tributaries, the Honbetsu River and the Misatobetsu River. The Doto Expressway opened in 2003. 391.91 km2 . Population: 8,275 (2010).
