...Of these, the temples of Khajuraho and Bhubaneshwar are representative of northern-style architecture, with the main hall in the form of a bullet-shaped tower. In contrast, the southern style, found mainly in the Tamil region, has a pyramidal roof and a gatehouse called a gopuram on the front or on each side of the enclosure wall, which grows taller and larger as time goes on. The Hoysala temples are known as an intermediate style, a combination of both the northern and southern styles.
