Suzu [city] - Suzu
A city at the northeastern tip of Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture. Incorporated as a city in 1954. Most of the area is hilly, with terraces along the coast. The city's center is Iida on the south coast, with other towns and villages including the fishing port of Takojima, and Shoin and Misaki, which produce firebricks made from high-quality diatomaceous earth. The main industries are agriculture, forestry, and fishing, but in recent years the clothing and textile industries have expanded into the area. The coast, including Cape Suzu and Cape Rokkozaki, is part of the Noto Peninsula Quasi-National Park. 247.20 km2 . Population: 16,300 (2010).

石川県能登半島北東端の市。1954年市制。大部分が丘陵地で,海岸には段丘が発達する。中心は南岸の飯田で,ほかに漁港の蛸島(たこじま),良質のケイ藻土を利用する耐火煉瓦を産する正院と三崎などの街村がある。農林漁業を主とするが,近年衣服・繊維工業が進出した。珠洲岬,禄剛崎など海岸は能登半島国定公園に属する。247.20km2。1万6300人(2010)。
