Also known as Fukuromushi or Sugokaiisome. A polychaete annelid of the family Polychaetidae. Body length 30-40cm. The body is brown with a dark blue anterior dorsal surface and a pale pink ventral surface. Each anterior segment of the body has large, dendritic gills. It lives in a tube made in the sand and mud from the intertidal zone to a depth of about 20m, with seaweed, shells, and trash attached to the top of the tube. It is found throughout Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu, and is used as bait for fishing for flatfish, wrasse, and halfbeaks.

フクロムシ，スゴカイイソメとも。多毛類ナナテイソメ科の環形動物。体長30〜40cm。体は褐色で前部背面は暗青色を帯び，腹面は淡紅色。体の前方の各環節には樹枝状の大きな鰓(えら)がある。潮間帯〜水深20mくらいの砂泥中に管をつくってすみ，管の上部には海藻，貝殻，ごみなどをつけている。本州，四国，九州の各地に分布し，カレイ，ベラ，サヨリなどの釣餌に用いられている。
