...There are cases where steam is stored in the form of sensible heat accompanied by a temperature change, and cases where steam is stored in the form of latent heat accompanied by a phase change. (1) Steam accumulator When the load on a boiler decreases during steady-state operation, steam is left over. If this excess steam is blown into water in a large container and stored as heat, it can be used as steam or hot water when needed.
