〘Noun〙① In the pre-Taika period, a title of respect given to nobles in a friendly and respectful manner. ※Kojiki (712), Vol. 2, folk song "Omae Komae Sukune ga Kinmonkage Kokoro ni Koi ko ni kochi ne ame ta ta te mu"② One of the ancient surnames. The third of the eight surnames established in the 13th year of Emperor Tenmu's reign ( 684 ). It was given mainly to clans of gods with the surname Muraji . Later, from the end of the Nara period onwards, it was given to influential clans, becoming the second most popular surname after Ason. ※ Chronicles (720), Tenmu 13th year, October (Kanbun edition): "Furthermore, the surnames of the various clans were changed to create eight different surnames : (omitted) one called Mahito, two called Asomi , three called Sukune , (omitted) eight called Inaki. 〘名〙① 大化前代、貴人を親しみ尊んでいう敬称。※古事記(712)下・歌謡「大前 小前須久泥(スクネ)が 金門蔭 かく寄り来ね 雨立ち止めむ」② 古代の姓(かばね)の一つ。天武天皇一三年(六八四)制定された八色(やくさ)の姓の第三位。主として連(むらじ)姓の神別氏族に与えられた。のち、奈良末期以降有力な氏に与えられ、朝臣に次ぐ姓となった。※書紀(720)天武一三年一〇月(寛文版訓)「更、諸氏之族の姓を改めて八色の姓を作りて〈略〉一つに曰はく真人(まひと)、二つに曰はく朝臣(あそみ)、三つに曰はく宿禰(スクネ)〈略〉八つに曰はく稲置(いなき)」
