A snail shell of the Turbinidae family (illustration). Both the shell height and diameter are less than 3 cm. It is thick and solid, with a low coil and a slightly flattened apex. The body layer is large. The surface of the shell is covered with a greenish-brown pericarp, and the spiral ribs are granular, but depending on the individual, they may form a row of large tubercles below the coil sutures and at the shoulders, and at the base of the body layer. The shell opening is round and the inner surface is pearlescent. The umbilicus does not open. The operculum is calcareous and bulges on the outside, while the inner surface is flat and covered with a brown skin.

リュウテンサザエ科の巻貝（イラスト）。殻の高さ，径ともに3cm未満。厚く堅固，巻きは低く殻頂はやや平らになる。体層は大きい。殻の表面は緑褐色の殻皮をかむり，螺肋（らろく）は顆粒（かりゆう）状になるが，個体により巻きの縫合の下と肩の部分，また体層では殻底などには大きい結節列となることがある。殻口は丸くて，内面は真珠光沢がある。臍孔（せいこう）は開かない。ふたは石灰質で外側は膨らみ，内面は平らで褐色の皮に覆われる。
