Sueuji

Japanese: 陶氏 - すえうじ
Sueuji
A powerful clan in Suo during the Muromachi and Sengoku periods. A branch line of the Ouchi clan. During the Genpei period, Ouchi no Suke Morifusa's younger brother, Morinaga, founded the Migita clan, and his great-grandson, Hirokata, ruled Suemura, Yoshiki County, Suo, and called himself the Sue clan. His son, Hiromasa, was given the position of land steward of Tomita no Yasu in Tsuno County, Suo during the Nanboku-cho period, and afterwards moved his base to Tomita, embezzling provincial government land (Todaiji temple land) and establishing his base of operations. The next, Hironaga, became Nagato Shugodai in 1401 (Oei 8), and was passed on to Morinaga and Morimasa. Since Morimasa's appointment in 1402 (Eikyō 4), the position of Suo Shugodai has been hereditary among the Sue clan, and played an important role within the Ouchi household.
