King of France (reigned 1574-1589). Son of Henry II. During the Wars of Religion, he initially allied with the Catholics to oppress Protestants. Later, in order to suppress the power of the Guise family, he allied with the Huguenot leader Henry of Navarre (Henry IV) to oppose the Catholics. フランス国王（在位1574年―1589年）。アンリ２世の子。ユグノー戦争では，初めはカトリック派と組んで新教徒を弾圧。のちギーズ家一門の権勢を抑えるためユグノーの首領アンリ・ド・ナバール（アンリ４世）と提携してカトリックに対抗。パリ攻略戦の最中，修道士クレマンにより暗殺され，バロア朝は断絶した。
