It refers to a trial in which the proceedings are carried out swiftly and the objectives (in civil cases, determining the rights and obligations between the parties and resolving the dispute, and in criminal cases, clarifying the truth of the case and applying the criminal laws correctly) are achieved as soon as possible. In all types of litigation, the speed of trials is a major concern for both the state that sets up the judicial system and the parties involved, and this has long been expressed in phrases such as "Justice delayed, justice denied" and "Justice is sweetest when it is fresh (F.
