Japanese: 真俗二諦 - しんぞくにたい

〘Noun〙 Buddhist term. True truth and profane truth. The content of the understanding is complex, but it is generally understood to mean the transcendental truth and the truth recognized by common sense in the world, or the things known by those who have awakened to the truth of Buddhism and the things known by ordinary people, or the difference between the true nature of things as the principle of true equality and the secular world, and even by extension, the Buddhist law and the royal law, religious faith and worldly morality. *Gukansho (1220) 3 "These two great masters presented Shingon Buddhism, which is a single sect that contains all of the two truths, true and secular, and is the self-test of the Buddhas of the three worlds, and they both established the initiation training hall." [Additional note] "Yonezawa Honshasekishu - Five Volumes" states, "In Buddhism there is a teaching on the two truths of true and secular . True truth is the principle of equality of emptiness and emptiness, so there is no distinction between self, other, dependent on the true, etc. Because all phenomena are empty of their own nature, secular truth does not break the similarities in which all phenomena are harmonious in cause and effect, and the ordinary and sacred stages are separated, which is the chapter on delusion and enlightenment."

〘名〙仏語。真諦と俗諦。理解の内容は複雑であるが、一般には出世間的な真理と世間の常識で認められる真実、または仏教の真理に目ざめた人が知っている事柄と世間一般の人が知っている事柄、あるいは真実平等の理としての真如と世俗の差別のすがた、さらには転じて仏法と王法、宗教的信仰と世間的道徳の意に解される。※愚管抄（1220）三「真言宗とて又一切真俗二諦をさながら一宗にこめたる三世諸仏の己證の真言宗とをば、この二人大師わたし給て、両人灌頂道場をおこし」[補注]「米沢本沙石集‐五本」に「仏法には真俗(シンソク)の二諦の法門あり。真諦は虚空平等の理なれば、自他依正等の差別なし。諸法は自性空なるが故に、俗諦は諸法は因縁の和合せる似相をやぶらずして、凡聖位ゐ分れ、迷悟品こと也」とある。
