Another characteristic idea of Plato is that he regards the universe as the macrocosm and humans as the microcosm that contrasts with it, which can also be said to mean that Plato considered the universe to be a living, active organism (for example, in Phaedrus, Plato likens the universe to a chariot and Zeus to the one who controls it).
