A town in Tosa County in northern Kochi Prefecture. Established as a town in 1970. Occupying mountainous land in the upper reaches of the Yoshino River, rice cultivation is thriving, especially in the river valley. Timber is also abundant. Sameura Dam was constructed in 1973.
