Aohaka no Shuku

Japanese: 青墓宿 - あおはかのしゅく

A post station on the Tosando road in Mino province. It is also written as Aohaka or Oohoka. It is currently Aohakacho, Ogaki city, Gifu prefecture. It was famous as a post station with prostitutes and puppets from the end of the Heian period to the Kamakura period. The head of the post station was Aohakachoja, and according to the Hogen Monogatari, the mother of the child of Minamoto no Tameyoshi, who was killed after the Hogen Rebellion, was Aohakachoja's daughter. The Heiji Monogatari records that Minamoto no Yoshitomo, who was defeated in the Heiji Rebellion, fled to Aohakacho, making it a place closely related to the Genji clan. It is thought that prostitutes and puppets were under the jurisdiction of Aohakachoja, but the Minamoto puppets who appear in Oe Masafusa's Puppet Records were probably based in Aohaka. It seems that it continued to exist as a post station on the Tosando road until the Sengoku period.

美濃(みの)国にあった東山道の宿駅。青波賀，大墓などとも書く。現在の岐阜県大垣市青墓町。平安末期から鎌倉期にかけて遊女や傀儡(くぐつ)がいた宿として著名。宿の長者を青墓長者といい，《保元(ほうげん)物語》によると保元の乱後に斬られた源為義の子の母は青墓長者の女(むすめ)で，《平治物語》には平治の乱に敗れた源義朝が青墓に逃れたと記され，源氏と関係の深い地であった。遊女や傀儡は青墓長者の管轄におかれたと考えられるが，大江匡房(まさふさ)の《傀儡子記》に登場する美濃の傀儡子（傀儡）は青墓宿を拠点としていたものであろう。戦国期までは東山道の宿として存続していたらしい。
