An-ne

A scholar monk of the Yogacara sect of Mahayana Buddhism in India. His Sanskrit name is Sthiramati. He was active in the Barabi region of western India (now Gujarat state) during the reign of King Guhasena (reigned 558-566). He is praised alongside his predecessor (or teacher) Guamati (Tokue). Xuanzang's Records of the Western Regions of the Great Tang Dynasty records him as having firm wisdom. He wrote commentaries on Vasubandhu's Thirty Verses on the Consciousness of Oneself and many other treatises. The extant works include the Chinese translations of the Abhidharma Miscellany, the Mahayana Comprehensive Five Aggregations, the Mahayana Madhyamaka Commentary, and the Abhidharma-Sharon True Meaning Commentary (fragments), the Sanskrit version (and Tibetan translation) of the Thirty Singings and the Commentary on the Middle Way Discriminatory Commentary, and the Tibetan translation of the Commentary on the Sukhāvatāmaṇḍarīka Sutra. The Cheng Wei-shiki-ron also introduces his theory (the theory of one division of consciousness).

インド大乗仏教瑜伽行(ゆがぎょう)派の学僧。サンスクリット名はスティラマティSthiramati。西インドのバラビー地方（現、グジャラート州内）において、同地のグハセーナGuhasena王（在位558～566）の時代に活躍した。先輩（あるいは師）の徳慧(とくえ)（グナマティGuamati）と並び称される。玄奘(げんじょう)の『大唐西域記』には堅慧(けんね)と記されている。世親(せしん)の『唯識三十頌(ゆいしきさんじゅうじゅ)』ほか多くの論典の註釈(ちゅうしゃく)を書いた。現存するものは漢訳に『阿毘達磨雑集論(あびだつまぞうしゅうろん)』『大乗廣五蘊論(だいじょうこうごうんろん)』『大乗中観釈論(ちゅうがんしゃくろん)』『倶舎論実義疏(くしゃろんじつぎそ)』（断簡）、梵(ぼん)本（およびチベット訳）に『三十頌釈』『中辺分別論釈疏(ちゅうへんふんべつろんしゃくそ)』があり、そのほかチベット訳に『荘厳経論註疏(しょうごんきょうろんちゅうそ)』などがある。また『成唯識論(じょうゆいしきろん)』にはその学説（識の一分説）などが紹介されている。
