Shotokuji Temple - Shotokuji

Japanese: 聖徳寺 - しょうとくじ

This Otani-ha Shinshu temple is located in Naka-ku, Nagoya. Its name is Shippo-san. Its principal image is Amida Nyorai. It is said that Shinran's disciple Kanzen founded the temple after receiving seven treasures from his master. The temple was originally located in Oura-go, Mino Province (present-day Hashima City, Gifu Prefecture), but later moved to various locations within Nakajima-gun, Owari, before moving to its current location in 1638 (Kan'ei 15). There is also a famous anecdote about how Oda Nobunaga first met his wife Nōhime's father, Saito Dosan, at this temple in 1549 (Tenbun 18), and Dosan was easily put to the test. After that, Nobunaga would take his military stand at this temple whenever he went out to battle.

名古屋市中区にある真宗大谷派の寺。七宝山と号する。本尊は阿弥陀如来。親鸞の弟子閑善が，師から七種の宝物を授かって開創したという。最初の寺地は美濃国大浦郷(現，岐阜県羽島市)だったが，そののち尾張中島郡内などを転々として，1638年(寛永15)現在地に移った。また1549年(天文18)織田信長が妻濃姫の父斎藤道三と当寺で最初の会見をして，道三のどぎもをぬいた逸話は有名。以後信長は，出陣の際には当寺で軍立ちをしたという。
