Ushigahara

...The rest of the area west of the Kuzuryu River is filled with river sand and gravel deposits, and only the Akane River basin at the western end is low and humid. Ushigahara in the northwest was the earliest developed area, becoming Ushigahara Manor, a manor of Daigoji Temple, during the Heian Period, while Konomotogahara (the center of the former alluvial fan of the Kiyotaki River) and Tsukahara were developed after World War II. The Akane River basin is a rice monoculture region, specializing in glutinous rice and rice seeds, but the rest of the area has been converted into rice fields and produces tobacco leaves and vegetables, with taro being particularly popular.
