A treatise on the art of Gidayu. Written by Sugiyama Shigemaru (Sonikian). Published in 1926. 1 volume. Sugiyama Shigemaru, who was considered a political mastermind, was passionate about Gidayu. Based on stories he heard from Takemoto Settsu Daijo, Takemoto Osumidayu III, and Genami, he tried to establish Gidayu's status as a classical art form through the tradition of Gidayu, especially through the pursuit of "Fuu" (wind). In each of the 84 joruri acts, he touches on the wind, relates anecdotes, and actual storytelling methods, and clarifies the essence of Gidayu's art. Although it contains quite a few errors, it had an enormous influence on Bunraku tayu, shamisen players, researchers, and others. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
