Emetine

6',7',10,11-tetramethoxyemetan. C ₂₉ H ₄₀ N ₂ O ₄ (480.65). An ipecac alkaloid obtained from the underground roots of Cephaelis ipecacuanha (Rubiaceae). White powder. Melting point 74 °C. -50° (chloroform). Easily soluble in ethanol, ether, acetone, and chloroform, slightly soluble in water and petroleum ether. A specific remedy for amoebic dysentery. Also used as an emetic and expectorant. The minor alkaloid cephaeline (melting point 115-116 °C. -43°) is obtained along with emetine. _{LD 50} 17 mg/kg (rat, oral).

6′,7′,10,11-tetramethoxyemetan．C₂₉H₄₀N₂O₄(480.65)．アカネ科Cephaelis ipecacuanhaの地下根から得られる吐根(とこん)アルカロイドの一つ．白色の粉末．融点74 ℃．－50°(クロロホルム)．エタノール，エーテル，アセトン，クロロホルムに易溶，水，石油エーテルに難溶．アメーバ赤痢の特効薬．催吐，去たん薬としても使われる．副アルカロイドのセファエリン(融点115～116 ℃．－43°)がエメチンとともに得られる．LD₅₀ 17 mg/kg(ラット，経口)．
