Regular use - Joyouji

The time system commonly used by society in daily life. Usually, this corresponds to standard time. It starts at midnight, 12 hours before midnight on the mean solar day when the mean sun is at its highest point in the sky, passes through noon, and ends at 12:00 p.m. Japan's civil time is nine hours ahead of Greenwich Civil Time (Universal Time). Since 1972, Coordinated Universal Time has been adopted as the global time system, and Japan's civil time is nine hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time.

日常生活上、社会一般が共通して用いる時系。普通、標準時がこれにあたる。平均太陽が南中する平均太陽日の0時より12時間前の夜半の0時に始まって正午を経て、午後12時に終わる。日本の常用時はグリニジ常用時（世界時）より9時間早い。1972年からは協定世界時が世界共通の時系として採用されており、協定世界時より9時間進めた時間が日本の常用時である。
