Jomon people - Jomonjin (English spelling)

Jomon people - Jomonjin (English spelling)
They were a people who lived in the Japanese archipelago from 10,000 years ago until about 2,000 years ago, and produced and used Jomon-style pottery. Their three-dimensional, square, and short facial features are different from those of mainland Japanese people from the Yayoi period onwards. Their teeth are significantly worn down, and their bite is like that of a nail clipper. They were small in stature, but with longer arms and legs, and a well-developed muscular body, they are considered to be adaptations to a diversified hunting-gathering lifestyle. The Jomon people are the foundation group for all modern Japanese people, and it is believed that the Ainu are their direct descendants.
