Fireboat - Shoboutei

Japanese:
Fireboat - Shoboutei

A vessel belonging to local governments and the Japan Coast Guard in preparation for ship fires, coastal fires, water rescue, etc. With the number of accidents involving large tankers and ships increasing every year, fireboats are engaged in a wide range of firefighting activities, including not only firefighting but also oil spill prevention due to collisions, rescuing drowning victims, and draining flooded ships. Fireboats are characterized by their ability to use large amounts of water, and can use water pressure to drive water cannons and water cannons to powerfully spray water, as well as foam spraying, making them effective against fires at coastal petroleum complexes and ship fires. In preparation for oil spills caused by tankers, they are also equipped with oil fences (walls made of urethane or floats) to prevent the spread of spilled oil and neutralizing agents to treat spilled oil. Most are driven by the torque of the engine, but recently some have been driven by a pump and the water pressure of the drainage (turbojet system), and their speed is 5 to 30 knots. They are stationed in Tokyo, Chiba, Yokohama, Kobe, Osaka, etc.
