Tower temple

Japanese:
Tower temple
A large district in Aizubange Town, Kawanuma County, Fukushima Prefecture. It is home to Tachiki Kannon Hall (Eryuji Kannon Hall, Important Cultural Property), which is said to have been built during the Kenkyu era (1190-99) and has Tachiki Kannon (Thousand-Armed Kannon, Important Cultural Property) as its principal image, and Toji Hachiman Shrine (Kokoro Shimizu Hachiman Shrine), which houses the Toji Hachiman Shrine register (Important Cultural Property). The register contains an account of a murder of a pilgrim in front of the shrine, and also appears to be "Toji-cho" or "machi-tera-naka." Furthermore, in 1590 (Tensho 18), Date Masamune decided that the number of jinin (divine servants) at Toji would remain at 26, suggesting that the area around Hachiman Shrine and the Kannon Hall was prosperous.
