A Kamigata Rakugo performer from the late Edo and Meiji periods. Born in Katano-cho, Osaka (Umegaeda, Katano City) to a family of a coppersmith father and a midwife mother, his real name was Kunishima Fukumatsu. In 1864, at the age of seven, he entered the school of Katsura Umemaru (one theory is that Katsura Keiji), and the following year he moved to the school of Shofutei Shokaku II, taking the name Fukumatsu. In 1893, he formed the Naniwa Sanyu-ha with Getsutei Bunto, Katsura Bundanji II, and Shofutei Shokaku III, and the following year held their inaugural performances at the Koubai-tei in Nanchi Hozenji Temple and the Yoshifuku-tei in Matsuyamachi Shinmei Shrine. His flashy and cheerful style of performance, as well as the eccentricity of his plots and punch lines, made him popular, and he was a master of "Kamizuya" and "Omojiya." <References> Kaishin-i-shu, "Memories of Rakugo Performers from the Meiji Period" (Local Magazine/Kamigata, Issue 5)

幕末明治期の上方落語家。大坂交野町(交野市梅ケ枝)の,父は銅細工師,母は産婆という一家に生まれ,本名は国島福松。元治1(1864)年,7歳のとき桂梅丸(一説には桂慶治)の門に入り,翌年,2代目笑福亭松鶴の門に移って福松を名乗った。明治26(1893)年,月亭文都,2代目桂文団治,3代目笑福亭松鶴らと浪花三友派を結成,翌年,南地法善寺の紅梅亭および松屋町神明社内の吉福亭で旗上げ興行を行った。その芸風は派手で陽気,趣向や落ちの奇抜さで人気を博し,「紙屑屋」「大文字屋」などを得意とした。<参考文献>会心居主人「思い出の明治の落語家」(『郷土雑誌/上方』5号)
