Kinki flag
〘Noun〙 The flag of the Emperor. A long, narrow flag with the shape of the sun and moon drawn side by side on a red brocade cloth. It was used as a sign for the generals dispatched by imperial command. Nishiki no mihata. ※Kanbun Gyoki - July 23, 1437 (9th year of Eikyo) "Yamana Miyauchi Shoyu visits the palace and says that Ise Kokushi and others should join forces and send two brocade flags" ※Harusame Bunko (1876-82) <Wada Tei-setsu> 10 "We will be the pioneers of the brocade flag" [Li He - March Music]
