The name of a boy who appears in S. Freud's case report "Analysis of a Phobia in a Five-Year-Old Boy" (1909). It is known as the first case in which psychoanalytic therapy was applied to a child. Hans was unable to go outside due to his fear of being bitten by horses. As a result, his father, an internist, began treating him under the guidance of Freud. Through his analysis of Hans, Freud discovered that Hans's attachment to his mother caused him to feel hostility towards his father, who was a rival, and that he was torn between this and his innate love for his father, but that he tried to resolve this conflict by projecting his hostility towards his father onto horses, and that this projection of hostility was the psychological mechanism behind the onset of Hans's horse phobia.

S.フロイトによる症例報告《ある5歳の少年における恐怖症の分析》(1909)に登場する少年の名。はじめて子どもに精神分析療法を応用した症例として知られている。ハンスは，馬にかまれるという恐怖のために外出不能となった。そのため，内科医である父親が，フロイトの指導の下に治療を行った。フロイトはハンスの分析を通して，ハンスが母親に対する愛着から，競争相手である父親に敵意を抱き，本来もっていた父への愛情との板ばさみに苦しむが，父への敵意を馬に投影して葛藤を解決しようとしたこと，そしてこのような敵意の投影がハンスの馬恐怖症の発症の心理的機制であることを見いだした。
