Druse - Shodo (English spelling)

Japanese: 晶洞 - しょうどう（英語表記）druse

An irregularly shaped cavity in a rock, the walls of which are surrounded by a mineral shell. It is found in steam vents and veins in lava. When the mineral that makes up the wall of the cavity is the same as that of the surrounding rock, it is called a druse, and when the mineral that makes up the shell is different from that of the surrounding rock, it is called a geode [Phillips: 1816]. 岩石の中にある不規則な形状の空洞のことで，空洞の壁は鉱物の殻で囲まれている．熔岩中の蒸気孔や脈に見られる．この空洞の壁を作る鉱物が周囲を取り巻く岩石と同じ鉱物の場合が晶洞（druse）であり，殻を作る鉱物が周囲の岩石と異なる場合は異質晶洞（geode）という［Phillips : 1816］．がま（vug）も同じ意味である．晶簇［東京地学協会 : 1916］．
