A former town in Konu County, eastern Hiroshima Prefecture. It is on the watershed between the Shimokawa River, a tributary of the Gono River, and the Yatada River, a tributary of the Ashida River. The central settlement, which is on the Fukuen Line, is in the Shimokawa River basin and once flourished as a post town and the commercial center of the Tenryo. It produces rice and konjac, and dairy farming is also thriving. It was incorporated into Fuchu City in April 2004. 85.53 km2 . 6,083 people (2003). 広島県東部,甲奴(こうぬ)郡の旧町。江の川(ごうのかわ)の支流上下川と芦田川の支流矢多田川の分水界にあたる。福塩線の通じる中心集落は上下川流域にあり,かつて宿場町,天領の商業中心として栄えた。米,コンニャクを産し,酪農も盛ん。2004年4月府中市に編入。85.53km2。6083人(2003)。
