Japanese: 定義[温泉] - じょうげ

A hot spring in Sendai City (formerly Miyagi Town, Miyagi County), central Miyagi Prefecture. It is also called Jogi. There is a bus from Sendai Station, and from the end of the bus line it is about 3km further up the mountain path, followed by an hour's walk, to reach the lodging house in the Yukawa Valley. At Saihoji Temple near the hot spring, there is Jogi Nyorai, a deity said to have miraculous powers for finding love and granting children, and in the farming off-season many visitors would come to take a bath and cure their illness. 宮城県中部，仙台市(旧宮城郡宮城町)にある温泉。〈じょうぎ〉とも呼ぶ。仙台駅からバスの便があり，終点からさらに山道を約3km，徒歩1時間で湯川渓谷の一軒宿に至る。温泉に近い西方寺には縁結び，子授けに霊験あらたかといわれる定義如来があり，農閑期には参詣を兼ねた湯治客が多かった。単純泉で，泉温は36～38℃。【谷沢明】
