Juntei is a transliteration of the Sanskrit word Cundi. In Tomitsu, it is one of the Six Kannon Bodhisattvas. It can also be written as Juntei. The statue has three eyes and various types, such as two or three arms. It is said to have the power to ward off disasters, and is placed at Henchi-in in the Taizokai Mandala. Wooden statues remain at Shin-Yakushi-ji Temple and Daiho-on-ji Temple. Source: Encyclopaedia Britannica Concise Encyclopedia About Encyclopaedia Britannica Concise Encyclopedia Information |
