Also called Pseudomonas or Pseudomonas. A genus of the family Pseudomonadaceae of the true bacteria. Although it is a rod-shaped bacterium, some become shorter and appear spherical. It usually has a single hair, but there are rare cases where it has a few hairs at the end of the body or is hairless. About 30 species are known. In addition to soil-dwelling, freshwater-dwelling, and marine-dwelling species, many are known to parasitize various plants and cause diseases. プソイドモナス,プシュードモナスともいう。真正細菌類シュードモナス科の1属。いわゆる桿菌であるが,ときとして長さが短くなり球状にみえるものもある。普通単毛を有するが,まれに数毛を体の端に有するもの,無毛のものなどがある。約 30種が知られている。土壌生のもの,淡水生のもの,海水生のもののほかに,種々の植物に寄生して,病原となるものも多く知られている。
