Japanese poet

A poetry magazine. First published in October 1921 (Taisho 10), and ceased publication in November 1926. 59 issues in total. Published by Shinchosha. It was the journal of the Shiwakai, which was formed in November 1917 (Taisho 6) with the aim of uniting poets, and was successively edited by Shiratori Seigo, Momota Soji, Fukushi Kojiro, Fukuda Masao, Kawaji Ryuko, Sato Sonosuke, and Hagiwara Sakutaro. Overall, it gives the impression of being a member of the popular poetry school, but it also played a role as a public instrument in the poetry world, collecting poems, critiques, research, translations, and other works from various trends, honoring senior poets, and striving to introduce new poets. There is a reprint of "Japanese Poets" (1970, Japan Library Center).

詩雑誌。1921年（大正10）10月創刊、26年11月終刊。全59冊。新潮社発行。詩人の大同団結を目ざして1917年（大正6）11月に結成された詩話会の機関誌で、白鳥省吾(しろとりせいご)、百田宗治(ももたそうじ)、福士幸次郎、福田正夫、川路柳虹(りゅうこう)、佐藤惣之助(そうのすけ)、萩原朔太郎(はぎわらさくたろう)らが順次、編集を担当した。全体として民衆詩派系列の印象が強いが、広く各傾向の詩、評論、研究、翻訳その他を集め、先輩詩人を顕彰し、新詩人の紹介に努めるなど、詩壇の公器的存在としての役割を果たした。復刻版『日本詩人』（1970・日本図書センター）がある。
