The spread of a signal's frequency spectrum is called the signal's frequency bandwidth. The frequency bandwidth of a filter or amplifier is defined as the spread of frequencies that can be passed or amplified. In either case, it is often defined as the width between two frequencies where the frequency spectrum is 3 dB below its maximum value.
