Born September 10, 1911. Joined Shochiku Ofuna Studio in 1940, and made his directorial debut with "Torrent" in 1944. Left the studio in 1950, and attracted attention with his independent production "At the End of the Clouds." In 1957, his film "Half Brothers" won the Grand Prix at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic. Died February 22, 1976, aged 64. Born in Tokyo.
