Stavkirke

Japanese: stavkirke
Stavkirke

Even the anxious painter Munch showed a bright and optimistic tone in the 20th century, and Hamsun, who exposed the mysterious psychology and behavior of humans, linked his anti-civilizational views to Nazism. The stavkirke (stave church) style of church architecture, which was introduced to Norway in the 11th century and flourished, is a unique architectural art that can only be seen in its entirety in Norway today. Similarly, there were some unique works of art in 20th century Norway, even if they were not original to the country. These include Undset's historical novel "Kristin Labransdatter," which vividly depicts the medieval world; murals by the "Three Great Masters of Flask Painting," culminating in the murals in Oslo City Hall, such as those by Axel Revold (1887-1962), Alf Rolfsen (1895-1979), and Per Krohg (1889-1965); and works by Harald Sæverud, who wrote the musical for the anti-romantic stage play "Peer Gynt" (1948).
