A deciduous medium-sized tree of the Sterculiaceae family that can reach a height of 10-15 m and a diameter of 30-60 cm (illustration). The bark is green and smooth, but old trees have many grayish-white horizontal stripes. The trunk grows straight, and the branches grow in a ring shape from one point, forming a stepped shape as it grows. The twigs are thick. The leaves are large and alternate, and grow in clusters at the ends of the branches. They have long petioles 10-30 cm long, and the leaf blades are 15-30 cm in diameter, cordate at the base, and palmately divided into 3-5 lobes. They are monoecious. Small yellow-green male and female flowers bloom together in large panicles that appear at the ends of the branches around June and July.
