Japanese: ヒゲナガガ(髭長蛾) - ヒゲナガガ

A general term for insects of the Adelinae subfamily of the Lepidoptera order, family Adelinae. The Adelinae family includes small moths with a wingspan of 10-23 mm, and is found throughout the world. Over 30 species have been recorded in Japan. Among this family, the antennae of males are much longer than the length of their forewings, making them the longest group in the Lepidoptera order, but in the past many scholars considered this subfamily to be an independent family. 25 species are known to be native to Japan, and many species have showy appearances, such as red or yellow markings on the forewings or metallic luster.

鱗翅目マガリガ科ヒゲナガガ亜科Adelinaeの昆虫の総称。マガリガ科は翅の開張10～23mmの小型のガを含む科で，世界中に分布する。日本からは30種あまりが記録されている。この科の中で，雄の触角が前翅の長さよりはるかに長く，鱗翅目の中で最長の一群であるが，以前はこの亜科を独立の科とする学者が多かった。日本産は25種知られ，前翅に赤色や黄色の斑紋をもったり，金属光沢に輝くなど，はでな姿をした種類が多い。
