The Conference for the Formation of Canadian Confederation was held in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada from September 1 to 7, 1864. Representatives from the then British colonies of Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia met in Charlottetown to discuss the possibility of a "United Maritime Colonies," but the original purpose of the conference was significantly changed when representatives of the United Canadian Colonies, who attended as observers, proposed a federation of all the British North American colonies. Therefore, the conference adjourned with a decision to hold the next conference in October of the same year in Quebec, but it is important as the first of a series of conferences that led to the realization of Canadian Confederation.

1864年9月1～7日まで，カナダのプリンスエドワードアイランドのシャーロットタウンで開かれたカナダ連邦結成のための会議。当時イギリス植民地であったプリンスエドワードアイランド，ニューブランズウィック，ノバスコシアの代表が，「沿海植民地連合」の可能性を討議するためにシャーロットタウンに集ったが，オブザーバーとして参加した連合カナダ植民地代表から全イギリス領北アメリカ植民地による連邦案が提議され，会議の当初の目的は大幅に変更された。したがってこの会議では，同年 10月にケベックにおいて，次の会議を開催することを定めて散会したが，カナダのコンフェデレーション実現にいたる一連の会議の最初のものとして重要である。
