Chartreuse - English spelling: chartreuse French

It is France's finest liqueur and is also known as the "Queen of Liqueurs." It is made at the Great Chartreuse Abbey, and its ingredients and manufacturing process are still not made public. It is said to be made using brandy made at the monastery as a base, to which over one hundred types of medicinal herbs are added. A recipe for a liqueur sent by a believer to Maréchal d'Estrées, who was King Henry IV's minister of ceremonies, was so complicated that d'Estrées sent it to the Chartreuse Order in Paris. Based on this, Father Jérôme Maubec, a priest of the same sect, is said to have completed this liqueur in the mid-18th century.

There are three types: yellow, green, and colorless; the yellow type has 43% alcohol and is very sweet, the green type has 55% alcohol and is less sweet, and the colorless type has 71% alcohol and is the highest quality.
