A transparent film of butyral resin is sandwiched between two sheets of glass and bonded to them. Butyral resin is flexible and cold-resistant, and has the property of adhering easily to glass, metal, etc. Even if it breaks, the pieces are attached to the butyral resin film and do not scatter, so it is used as safety glass in the windows of automobiles, vehicles, aircraft, etc. In addition, a highly conductive synthetic resin film is used to pass electricity through it to prevent condensation on the glass surface, and it can also be used in combination with tempered glass to make bulletproof glass.

2枚の板ガラスの間にブチラール樹脂の透明なフィルムをはさんで接着したもの。ブチラール樹脂は柔軟で耐寒性があり，ガラス，金属などに密着しやすい特性をもつ。割れても破片がブチラール樹脂フィルムに貼付され，飛散しないので，安全ガラスとして自動車，車両，航空機などの窓ガラスに使われる。また導電性の高い合成樹脂フィルムを用いて電流を通し，ガラス面の結露を防止したり，強化ガラスを合せて防弾ガラスに使うこともある。
