A Celtic tribe from Gallia Narbonensis who lived in the upper Rhône region. Their main towns were Vienna (now Bienne) and Genau (now Geneva). In 121 BC they were subjugated by the Roman generals Domitius and Allobloscus. In 63 BC they were invited to join Catiline's conspiracy but refused. In 62 BC they rebelled against Rome but were put down the following year by Gaius Pomtinus. They also did not take part in the great Gallic revolt led by Vercingetorix in 52 BC. [Kouji Takako]
