A system for reviewing disputes related to social insurance laws. Due to the nature of social insurance, which is deeply connected to the lives and welfare of the people, infringed rights must be remedied through a system in which disputes can be quickly and fairly handled without incurring any costs. There is an example of a special court set up for this purpose in Germany (formerly West Germany), but in Japan, an administrative review agency is in charge of reviewing social insurance. Japan has separate systems for labor insurance, general social insurance, national health insurance, and various mutual aid associations.

社会保険諸法に関する紛争を審査する制度。国民の生活と福祉に深くかかわる社会保険の性質上，紛争に関して迅速かつ公正な処理が経費を要することなく行われる制度によって，侵害された権利の救済が行われなければならない。そのための機関として，特別裁判所を設けるドイツ(旧，西ドイツ)の例もあるが，日本では行政審査機関を社会保険審査に当たらせている。日本の制度は，労働保険に関するもの，一般社会保険に関するもの，国民健康保険に関するもの，各種共済組合に関するものが別建てになっている。
