Social Insurance Office - shakaihokenjimusho

This was the frontline operating organization of the former Social Insurance Agency, which had jurisdiction over Government-Managed Health Insurance (currently the Japan Health Insurance Association) and Employees' Pension Insurance. Based on the provisions of Article 30 of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare Establishment Act (Law No. 97 of 1999), it was established as a subordinate organization of the local social insurance bureaus established in each prefecture. It was transferred to the pension office of the Japan Pension Service, which was established after the abolition of the Social Insurance Agency in January 2010.

政府管掌健康保険（現、協会けんぽ）や厚生年金保険等を所管した旧社会保険庁の第一線の現業機関。厚生労働省設置法（平成11年法律第97号）第30条の規定に基づき、各都道府県に設置された地方社会保険事務局の下部組織として設置されていた。2010年（平成22）1月の社会保険庁廃止により発足した日本年金機構の年金事務所に移行した。
