Muḥammad Shaybānī Khān

Founder of the Shaybanid dynasty. Based in the middle Syr Darya, he succeeded in reuniting the Uzbek tribes, which had been scattered since the death of his grandfather Abu al-Khayr Khan (1496-97). In 1500, he invaded Timurid territory, taking the capital Samarkand, and then swept through other areas, occupying Herat in 1507. He destroyed the Timurid dynasty. However, after an invasion of Kazakhstan (1508-09), discord arose within the family, and in 1510 he was attacked and killed by Ismail I of the Safavid dynasty outside Merw.

シャイバーニー朝の創始者。シル･ダリヤ中流域を根拠地として，祖父アブー･アルハイル･ハーンの没後四散していたウズベク族の再結集に成功(1496∥97)。1500年に，ティムール朝領内に侵入して首都サマルカンドを奪い，さらに各地を席巻して，1507年にはヘラートを占領。ティムール朝をほろぼした。しかし，対カザフ遠征(1508‐09)ののち，一族内に不和が生じ，10年に，サファビー朝のイスマーイール1世にメルブ郊外で攻め殺された。
