The Thule Society

A secret society founded in Munich, Germany in 1918. An occult research group based on the Germanic Knights, it aimed to unravel the cultural superiority of the Aryan race from the perspectives of magic and mysticism, but after anti-Semitic Dietrich Eckart and others joined, it gradually became more political and is said to have influenced the ideology of Nazism. 1918年にドイツ、ミュンヘンで創設された秘密結社。ゲルマン騎士団を母体とするオカルト研究団体で、アーリア民族の文化的優位性を魔術・神秘学の側面から紐解くことを目的としたが、反ユダヤ主義者のディートリヒ・エッカルトらが入会して徐々に政治色を強め、ナチズムの思想に影響を与えたとされる。名称はアーリア民族の故郷とされる伝説の島ウルティマ・トゥーレに由来する。
