A law that allowed autonomy through feudal domain law. It is also called the Tegiri Punishment Order. The Edo Shogunate only controlled important matters within the feudal domains, and allowed each domain to govern itself according to its own laws and regulations. In 1697, the Shogunate issued a letter to each domain allowing it to punish itself for crimes that occurred within its domain and were not related to any other crimes.
