A yellow-green algae of the Balloonaceae family of the order Carduelinale. It grows on fertile, sunny, and moist ground. It is bright green, subglobose or obovate, 1-2 mm in diameter, and has sparsely branched rhizoids extending underground. When the above-ground parts dry out, they turn whitish-green. When conditions such as nutrients and moisture are good, they produce numerous zoospores. It has been found throughout Honshu, and has been recorded in North America and Europe. 黄緑色藻類フシナシミドロ目フウセンモ科の藻類。肥沃で日当りがよく,しかも湿りけのある地上に発生する。鮮緑色で亜球形ないし倒卵形を呈し,径1~2mm,まばらに枝分れした仮根を地中に伸ばしている。地上部が乾燥すると帯白緑色となる。栄養と湿気などの条件のよいときに無数の遊走子を生じる。本州各地で発見され,また北アメリカ,ヨーロッパ各地で記録されている。
