A yellow-green algae of the Balloonaceae family of the order Carduelinale. It grows on fertile, sunny, and moist ground. It is bright green, subglobose or obovate, 1-2 mm in diameter, and has sparsely branched rhizoids extending underground. When the above-ground parts dry out, they turn whitish-green. When conditions such as nutrients and moisture are good, they produce numerous zoospores. It has been found throughout Honshu, and has been recorded in North America and Europe.
