...The basis of this data is the blood concentration when the drug is taken, and in fact, if there is no difference between the maximum blood concentration and the area enclosed by the curve obtained when the change in blood concentration is scaled against time, the absorbability is judged to be the same. In technical terms, this absorbability is called bioavailability. In addition, blood concentration measurements are sometimes performed to measure blood alcohol concentration to measure the degree of intoxication, and to determine intoxication with narcotics and stimulants.
